Our Annual Church Picnic in September

On Sunday 18 September, a cheerful company of picnickers from St Paul's Church enjoyed a comfortable ride on the chartered bus the new (and much restored) Humphreys Family country home in Priero, Pietmonte, Italy.
The full company on hand for the picnic gathered for worship in the Humphreys' dinning room -- a few drops of rain postponed enjoyment of the out of doors.
To close the picnic worship service, Father Walter lead the congregation in procession through the house while singing "Guide me O thou great Redeemer" to ask God's blessing on the new Humphreys family country home. Once worship and blessing concluded, the "altar" became a picnic table and was moved out to the garden where the group enjoyed a lovely meal with a full menu including scrumptious homemade chilli-con-carne and a variety of salad delights.
The skies began to darken as we completed the main course of the picnic lunch, so the group (and the altar/table) returned to the dinning room for a wonderful array of desserts, including homemade summer fruit crumble.
Tim & Candida Humphreys (and their lovely daughter Adrienne) bid fond farewell to the picnickers at the end of a truly memorable annual church picnic. In many ways, the picnic represented the happy conclusion to four years of hard work transforming the abandoned shell of an old Pietmontese farmhouse into the charming home & garden that welcomed us all on this splendid picnic day.
